Scotscraig is a traditional Scottish links course founded in 1817 by members of The Society of St Andrews Golfers, and remains the oldest still owned and played by its founding club.
Scotscraig is a course with a continuous competitive history and has played a pivotal role in over 200 years of Scottish golf. The Gold Medal, first played in 1818, is among the oldest competitions still contested in the game.
Originally laid out by Davie Robertson (Champion Golfer 1830 – 1835) and later refined by Old Tom Morris and James Braid, Scotscraig offers a fair but demanding test, playing firm and fast when conditions allow.
Visitor tee times are available seven days.

Experience Scotscraig’s Famous 4th
Designed by James Braid over 100 years ago, the 4th at Scotscraig is the inspiration for one of the defining templates of America’s Golden Age of golf course design: the “Knoll.”
From its conception at Scotscraig, the knoll was spread though American golf course design by C.B. Macdonald and Seth Raynor, and now appears at a remarkable collection of American courses including Piping Rock Golf Club, Yale Golf Course, Midland Hills Country Club, Minnesota Valley Country Club, Fishers Island Club, Yeamans Hall, the Country Club of Charleston and the historic Lido, which even went as far as to faithfully recreate the knoll at their 13th, after the original course was lost during the Second World War.
